Do I need a doctor's referral to book an appointment?
No, a doctor's referral is not required to be assessed or treated at We Care Rehab. Physiotherapists and Chiropractors are primary contact healthcare practitioners in Ontario. However, some private extended health insurance policies may require a physician note for reimbursement. We recommend checking your specific benefits plan.
Do you offer direct billing to private health insurance?
Yes! We direct-bill almost all major Canadian extended health insurance providers, including Sun Life, Manulife, Canada Life, Desjardins, Green Shield, Blue Cross, Empire Life, Equitable Life, and many others. We handle the paperwork directly so you don't have to pay upfront.
What should I expect during my first visit?
Your initial visit includes a thorough physical assessment by a registered clinician. We review your health history, conduct physical tests (range of motion, strength, joint mobility, neurological testing), discuss your goals, explain your diagnosis, and perform your first hands-on treatment on day one.
How long is each treatment session?
Initial assessments typically last 45 to 60 minutes. Subsequent follow-up treatment sessions are generally 30 to 45 minutes, depending on your customized recovery plan and modalities.
What happens if I was injured in a car accident (MVA)?
We Care Rehab is an approved provider for Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) rehabilitation. We submit all required Treatment Plans (ABR/OCF-18 forms) directly to your auto insurance company through HCAI. In most cases, MVA rehabilitation is 100% covered with zero out-of-pocket expenses.
Do you treat WSIB workplace injuries?
Yes, we are an authorized WSIB health clinic. We assist with filing WSIB Functional Abilities Forms (FAF), provide acute pain management, functional conditioning, and help safely coordinate your return to work.
Are same-day or evening appointments available?
Yes, we reserve dedicated appointment slots each day for urgent pain cases and offer extended evening hours until 7:00 PM Monday through Friday, as well as Saturday morning hours.
Where are your clinics located and is there parking?
We operate 4 convenient clinic locations across the region: Hamilton (434 Fennell Ave E), Stoney Creek (1395 Barton St E), Milton (420 Main St E), and Caledonia (285 Argyle St S). All locations feature free ground-level parking and wheelchair accessibility.
What is the difference between Physiotherapy and Chiropractic care?
Physiotherapy focuses heavily on soft tissue, muscle re-education, movement mechanics, and therapeutic exercise. Chiropractic care focuses primarily on spinal alignment, joint mobilization, and nervous system function. At We Care Rehab, our clinicians collaborate closely so you receive the best of both disciplines under one roof.
What is your cancellation policy?
We request at least 24 hours advance notice for cancellations or rescheduling. This allows us to offer the time slot to patients on our waiting list who need urgent care.
